this shot is looking onto the backyard patio of one of my favourite restaurants, and is also my dream backyard, i hope one day to have my own ivy covered-brick walled-crumbling little place of my own someday. we went here last night to celebrate my beautiful mommy’s birthday.
so ma mére, this little post is dedicated to you. i’ve been thinking lots about my mom, family, and growing up lately. As my birthday is tomorrow it feels like a good time for a bit of reflection. also i’ve really been loving lists (which is nothing new) but i thought it would be fun to come up with a list of ten things i’ve learned from my mom, both big and small, in no particular order:
1. it’s perfectly acceptable to eat a giant sundae for dinner once in a while
2. play your favourite song on repeat and sing it as loud as possible, as much as possible
3. never underestimate the power of prayer
4. no matter what you do, no matter what happens, your family will always love you, more than you knew possible
5. sometimes writing a letter is the best way to express your feelings
6. special occasions are important (thanks for helping to pick out all the prom dresses and making me always feel beautiful)
7. you’re never to old to be taken care of or held by your mommy
8. simplicity is underrated
9. don’t buy something unless you really love it
10. the best things are worth the wait and the work
i really could go on and on and on, but i’ll stop at 10.
i love you more then i’ll ever be able to say mom, you are the type of woman that i aspire to be. happy birthday
