Over the Moon!

As some of your might realize, one of my first loves is photography. I am constantly snapping photos of everything i see, and pushing the boundaries of my friends and family’s love by putting cameras in their faces. But sometimes, they actually ask me to do this and to bring my camera along. A few months back i had the honor of photographing three dear friends who had recently formed a band and put out an album. It was such a fun collaboration and they (kindly) pushed me to work past my typical style and we were all thrilled with the results. Well, these dear friends have a CD release party this coming friday and have been getting a lot of local press, to say i am proud and happy for them is an understatement. Do check them out, you won’t be disappointed. And just in case you need a bit more encouragement read what was said in the post-gazette today:

It’s a good rule of thumb that when you name your band something like Colonizing the Cosmos, you’re obligated to come up with something, well, cosmic.

Fortunately, this Pittsburgh band delivers by taking the endearing folk-pop of Paul Simon, adding the chamber-y Sufjan Stevens treatment and topping with a splash of Flaming Lips space-rock weirdness, all now captured on the band’s debut, “The First Frontier.” Read more
